What Does an Emerald Ash Borer Look Like?

Pictured here is an adult emerald ash borer (EAB) with its wings spread. The EAB is metallic green and approximately ½” long. This beetle’s larvae are pictured on the right. Before becoming an adult it will eat the ash tree underneath the visible bark. Once matured, the adult will bore a hole through the bark of ash trees, and fly out up to half a mile.
